Easyjet In Summer direct to Heraklion from Gatwick and Manchester. From June/July 2010 Easyjet are increasing their services to include direct flights from Berlin, Bristol, Geneva, Milan and Rome.
Easyjet fly all year round from Paris, Berlin, Milan, Rome, London Gatwick and Luton to Athens from where you can take an internal flight or overnight ferry to Chania. Can be very cheap if you book well in advance.

Directly to Chania by charter flight

Direct charter flights are available from Gatwick, Newcastle & Manchester and some other regional airports, usually on Tuesdays, from April or May until the end of October.

To Heraklion from regional airports

Charter flights are available from most regional airports direct to Heraklion, usually on Tuesdays and Friday nights. We can arrange a taxi or hire car to meet you from Heraklion.
Heraklion airport is about a 2 hour drive.

Daily scheduled flights via Athens

Scheduled flights to Athens arrive daily from just about everywhere. You can then either fly on to Crete or take the overnight ferry. Aegean Air are generally a bit cheaper than Olympic for the internal hop Athens/Chania , and you can book on line.

We can arrange for a taxi or hire car to meet you at Chania airport or Souda ferry port.
Chania airport is about 45 minutes drive from Gavalohori.

Ferries:

If you fly to Athens airport there is a bus to Piraeus (the port of Athens) which takes about an hour, or you can take a taxi -  make sure your flight arrives in time to get to the port.

The ANEK line ferries usually leave Piraeus at 21.00 and arrive Souda (The port for Chania) at 05.30 am the next day. Anek Lines
The return ferry leaves Souda at 21.00 and arrives Piraeus at 05.30.
They are very comfortable and you can book a cabin.
Souda is about 25 minutes' drive from Gavalohori.

At present there is apparently no service to Rethymnon .

Car hire

We arrange car hire with a local company - discuss your requirements when you book.

Gavalohori has several well supplied food shops, cafes and tavernas that are just a few minutes walk away. 

Transfers:

We can arrange for your hire car, or a taxi, to meet you at Chania or Heraklion Airport.

Please don’t forget to arrange travel insurance.
